While on a road trip thru several states, we planned a visit to the home.

Family Fun Vacation, Helen Keller Birthplace, Ivy Green

Our daughter had a read a little book about Helen Keller in school, and knowing that we would try to visit the site we showed to movie, The Miracle Worker (the more recent version) to the kids before we left for our trip.

A bit off the beaten path, we were glad we made the drive to Tuscumbia.

We actually got to visit during their annual festival at the home, and the play about her life was being performed that evening.

It was amazing to see the family home, Ivy Green, as well as the other buildings on the property.

And, yes, you can even see the water spout that was the breakthrough to communication for Helen.
